What is it?
Vetmedin contains pimobendan.
Vetmedin chewable tablets are the only medication licensed to be used in asymptomatic heart
disease. They are used to delay the onset of congestive heart failure (CHF) and improve survival in
Dobermanns with asymptomatic dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), and in dogs with asymptomatic
mitral valve disease (MVD) with cardiomegaly. Vetmedin chewable tablets are also used for the
ongoing treatment of CHF caused by either MVD or DCM.
Available in the following tablet strengths:
• 1.25 mg (50 tablets)
• 1.25 mg (100 tablets)
• 5 mg (50 tablets)
• 10 mg (50 tablets)
How is it administered?
Vetmedin chewable tablets can be divided into equal halves for accurate dosing and should be
administered orally approximately 1 hour before feeding.
